Walnut is a really special wood to turn. It works exceptionally well, and is a joy to have on the lathe. I was very fortunate to find this piece at a local auction. The wood was air dried, not kiln dried like most hardwoods. With walnut, air drying leaves the wood with much better color. This platter has a subtle tiger figure that doesn't show in this picture. The platter is approximately 11 inches across.
